Hi,

I was recently involved in a head on collision with a skip lorry. Discovery kept me safe from the impact barring a few broken ribs and a broken wrist, however the engine caught fire immediately. I was able to get out, and attempted to open the tailgate to release my dogs who were in a dog cage n the load space.
The tailgate wouldn’t open. Is there any way of opening the tailgate from outside the car in the event of electronic failure?
Only other way out of the cage was through an escape hatch behind the back seats which are also electric and wouldn’t move.

Any advice before I buy a new Discovery (old one was written off) and potentially put the dogs in danger again please?
